In Remembrance of Dr. Reginald Webb

Reginald “Reggie” Webb, born on March 25, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana, and a loving husband to René Webb, father to Kiana, Kyle, and Karim, and grandfather to Jason, Sanai, Samia, Mark, Akil, Amira, Kemet, and Nile, great-grandfather to Roman and Nala, passed away on July 20, 2024, at the age of 76. A beacon of strength and a visionary leader, Reggie’s life was a testament to the power of love and the profound impact one person can have on many.

Reggie’s journey began in South Central Los Angeles, where he moved in 1959 with his grandmother. After serving honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard during the 1960s, he pursued political science at California State University in Los Angeles and became actively involved in the War on Poverty. In 1973, Reggie joined McDonald’s accelerated management development program, rising through the ranks to regional vice president of Southern California. In 1985, he became a McDonald’s franchisee, founding Webb Family Enterprises Inc., which grew to operate 16 locations in the Inland Empire by his retirement in 2021.

Deeply committed to economic empowerment and social justice, Reggie founded the Cooperative Economic Empowerment Movement (CEEM) to help Black entrepreneurs create generational wealth. In 2021, California State University, San Bernardino, recognized his dedication to education, health, and charitable outreach with honorary doctorates. He served on numerous boards, including the Los Angeles Urban League and Pomona Valley Hospital, and received the prestigious 365Black award from McDonald’s in 2004.

An advocate for higher education, Reggie encouraged his children to earn degrees before joining the family business. He served on the University of La Verne Board of Trustees, where he generously supported scholarships and mentored African American students. His life’s work extended beyond business, leaving a lasting legacy of transforming lives and uplifting communities through social equity enterprises.

Reggie’s legacy endures through his beloved wife of over 50 years, René Webb, their children and grandchildren, and the countless lives he touched. His family celebrates his life and legacy by collecting memories and messages for a video tribute, honoring a man who believed sincerely in the mission of service and community upliftment.
